About Arlene
Hello all!
My name is Arlene and I hate being the center of attention. It's an easy attribute to maintain as I live in a sparsely-populated, little itty-bitty backwoods town called Houston. I live in the 'burbs and am happily married to one of the trendiest 26-year-old men outside of Milan. We are blessed with a little baby boy whom God placed in our arms on November 2010.
Aside from the passionate love affair I have with fashion, I am also a foodie and love to eat and cook different styles and flavors of food. Unfortunately, my palate rejects the flavors of pickle, carrot and corn. If you can somehow strategically disguise their flavors in a dish (which is impossible with the tanginess of pickle), I will probably try it, as is the case with carrots in a fried rice dish.
My favorite genre of movie is action, and I wish I discovered Netflix when it was first launched. Dry humor and low-brow movies (a la Will Ferrell and Jack Black) come at a close second. I can quote Anchorman word for word, and my husband thinks it is annoying when I talk along with the movie. I don't know what his problem is. I have a "thing" for movies which you have to watch and read, like Stieg Larsson's Millenium Trilogy, and a thought-invoking little German movie called Das Leben der Anderen (The Lives of Others). I enjoy DVR technology so I can keep up with The Real Housewives of... [insert city name here]. Because of them, now I know not to be tardy for the party, and that money can't buy you class.
I grew up listening to The Beatles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Matt Monro, Tony Bennett, The Police, and ABBA, just to name a "few". Today, I really enjoy 90s Rap, 90s R&B, grunge, punk, post punk, ska, big band, 80s pop, 80s new wave, bachata, reggaton, trance and new age. My favorite composer is Tchaikovsky. My favorite DJs are Jamsheddy and Armin van Buuren.
I advocate the right for everyone to marry whomever they love, and that "sanctity" of marriage is ruined by the institution of divorce, which in this country is a result of in 1 out of 2 heterosexual marriages. Remember just a few decades ago, white was not allowed to marry black, and who are these erroneous humans to dictate who you can and cannot marry?
If I were to return to The University of Houston (Go Coogs!) I would love to major in Theology with a concentration in the study of the Judaic and Islamic religions. I grew up Roman Catholic and now I practice the religion of Tolerance and Respect.
My favorite designers are Diane von Furstenberg, Christian Louboutin, Marc Jacobs, Marchesa, and Salvatore Ferragamo.
I enjoy fragrances by Burberry and Armani.
And here I am telling everyone I know that I don't like to talk about myself.
