Anglomania An-glo-ma-ni-a (ăng'glō-mā’nē-Ə,-mān’yƏ)
n. A strong predilection for anything English
Arlene is going through a bout of Anglomania.

Indeed I am. I love many things about the Brits. The way they say hood and trunk (bonnet and boot). The way they correctly prounounce the words premiere and coupe. Look it up. I was saying it wrong all this time. I love the accents from London and Liverpool alike... yes, they are different from each other! I would like to get to the eighth floor on a lift. I love that they produced the Beatles, Joy Division, A Flock of Seagulls and the Spice Girls. I don't know if you can tell, but my playlist for today is very Anglophilic! And don't act like you didn't use to love the Spice Girls. I don't keep up with the Kardashians as much as I do the Windsors. I visit British news sites so I know what's going on with the Royal Family and that one fairly famous, tall beautiful English bird that would be the future Queen Consort to the future King of the United Kingdom and Its Commonwealth Realms and Territories. What's her name? Oh yeah.

Kate Middleton.

I am at the peak of my Anglomania and Catherine Elizabeth Middleton is the crescendo. Her grace and class has kept my eyes glued to her. Her elegance is something I would like to emulate. And her fashion... well, let's just say that's why I am writing about her!

My sister Cathrine and I were discussing the other day how just a half- century ago, women would go to the market with a nice day dress, low pumps, a short-brimmed hat, gloves and just a smidge of lipstick. Now you find smelly women at the grocery store wearing tank tops with sweat crusted onto the armpit area, jogging pants with the word "JUICY" printed on the derriere, bunioned and calloused feet, and greasy, unwashed hair pulled up into a messy ponytail. And when we see someone young and beautiful like Kate Middleton, we find it so refreshing for someone her age to dress so classy AND sassy, even when she's just walking down the street (away from paparazzi, of course).

My favorite add-on to her outfits would definitely have to be her quirky yet gorgeous hats:

If a blue robin decided to live on Kate Middleton's shiny brown hair, she would still walk around in a nonchalant manner and work that bird's nest! Whether the hats have a practical purpose or are worn for accessories and flair, it doesn't matter... Google "Kate Middleton" and the instant search reveals many appreciate her style. The UK's Evening Express reports in a survey that women thought she made the Royal Family "fashionable again" and that she was a "fashion icon with a style that was wearable and more down to earth compared with stars like [Lady] Gaga." ABC News writes that her "fashion choices have created shopping frenzies everywhere". The reputable news source then went on to find bargain buys for pieces that were similar to the outfits Kate Middleton have been publicly spotted in. Stylist.com even gave us a mini-montage of her style "over the years" (that is, when she came into the public eye).

Kate's "Oops, there you are, paparazzi" candid shots:

Walking about town, looking svelte and modern:

Prim and proper young lady with 21st century fashion taste:

With the wedding in 15 days, and hopefully a lifetime of marriage with Prince William, Kate Middleton sure has captured the heart of this Anglophile and brought back my attention to the Windsors. She's definitely someone to look out for as her fashion taste is yet to grow more and more as her presence in the public eye grows.

What do you think of Kate Middleton's fashion sense? What era and time period do you wish would come back into women's style?

P.S. This is gonna be my last post for a while... My family and I are in the process of moving, and in between getting everything settled in and my son wanting to be carried all the time, I'm gonna have to give the blog several days of break. However, I will be back with more informative and interesting material soon!

Cheers!

I love this post, especially since the royal wedding was yesterday and fell inlove with her dress! But more so her maid of honor's dress from Alexander McQueen. Can you find me a replica of it??
